Assessment · Fatigue & energy
Being told that everything looked normal is often correct — and at the same time an insufficient answer to why you are tired. This page describes what a standard blood panel is built for, and what an extended clinical assessment goes through beyond it.
Clinical assessment by a licensed physician in Stockholm. No referral required. The 45-minute initial consultation is complimentary.

An extended clinical assessment therefore starts in the history — the course over time, sleep, medication, cumulative strain — and adds laboratory analysis only where the result could actually change what should be done next. We do not diagnose in advance and promise no outcome; we decide together what is reasonable to look at.
The content is decided by your doctor and varies between practices, but a basic fatigue work-up usually includes the following. The list is general and says nothing about what was taken for you — ask to see your own results.
The panel is designed to detect or exclude disease, and does that well. It is not designed to describe function over time, sleep quality, medication interactions, absorption or reactivity. A normal result is therefore information about what you probably do not have — not an explanation of the fatigue.
What follows is what we assess, not what you have. Which of these areas are relevant to you is decided in the consultation, and several of them require no new sampling at all.
| Area | What we go through | Tool if needed |
|---|---|---|
| Medical history | The course over time, previous illness, infections, pregnancies, surgery, and what preceded the deterioration | Structured history-taking |
| Sleep and circadian rhythm | Onset, awakenings, snoring, recovery, working hours and light exposure | Sleep history; referral for a sleep study where apnoea is suspected |
| Medication and supplements | Known fatiguing side effects, interactions, dosing, and high-dose supplements | Review of the current list |
| Nutritional status | Diet, intake, weight change and the risk of specific deficiencies given your situation | Targeted blood tests; where warranted NutrEval® FMV |
| Immune reactivity | Symptoms that vary with food or environment, skin and mucosal complaints, autoimmune disease in the family | Autoimmune serology through regular healthcare; in selected cases ALCAT |
| Cellular nutrient analysis | Whether intake actually reaches the cell, where the clinical picture suggests it but serum tests are normal | Cellular nutrient analysis, Metabolomix+ |
| Gut | The gut as an ongoing load: bloating, bowel pattern, food reactions | GI Effects®, SIBO test where the symptom picture warrants it |
A laboratory test is supporting evidence, not a diagnosis, and is ordered only when the result could change what should be done. We do not promise that an analysis will explain your fatigue, and we do not order a package in advance. How the clinic works is described in full in the investigation protocol.
The following should be assessed within conventional healthcare before any extended investigation is relevant.
For acute or life-threatening symptoms in Sweden call 112. For medical advice, contact 1177. MediBalans does not replace emergency care or your regular healthcare — we work alongside them, and refer you there when that is the right route.
The initial consultation is complimentary, lasts 45 minutes and takes place at Banérgatan 10 in Stockholm or online. No referral is required.
Go through your medical history and timeline, the tests you have already had, sleep, medication and cumulative strain. We then describe what speaks for and against different explanations.
A prioritisation: what is reasonable to look at next, what can wait, and what is not warranted in your case. If nothing further is needed, we say so.
We do not diagnose at the first appointment, promise no treatment outcome, and order no standard package of tests.
Why am I tired all the time when my test results are normal?
A standard blood panel is built to detect or exclude disease, not to describe how you function day to day. Normal results are therefore important information — but they say nothing about sleep quality, circadian rhythm, medication side effects, nutrient absorption or cumulative strain. Those are the areas an extended clinical assessment works through, alongside your medical history.
Where can I be assessed for fatigue when my GP says everything is normal?
You can book a physician assessment at MediBalans in Stockholm without a referral. The initial consultation is complimentary, lasts 45 minutes and is used to go through your history and decide what is reasonable to look at next. MediBalans does not replace emergency care or your regular healthcare — we work alongside them.
What is usually included in a standard fatigue work-up?
The content varies between practices and is decided by your doctor. Commonly included are full blood count, ferritin, B12, folate, TSH, glucose or HbA1c, CRP, electrolytes and liver and kidney tests, sometimes with vitamin D and coeliac serology. Always ask to see the actual numbers, not just the message that everything was normal.
What do you look at that a standard panel does not cover?
We review medical history and timeline, sleep and circadian rhythm, current medication and supplements, nutritional status, signs of immune reactivity, and the gut. Where one of those areas cannot be judged clinically, a targeted analysis — for example a cellular nutrient analysis — may be warranted. That is a description of what we assess, not a claim about what you have.
Do I need a referral?
No. MediBalans is a private clinic and you book directly. If the assessment points to something that belongs within public healthcare, we say so and refer you there.
Can you tell me what I have at the first appointment?
No. The first consultation is a review and a prioritisation, not a diagnosis. We describe what speaks for and against different explanations, what may be worth investigating further, and what is not warranted in your case.
The initial consultation is complimentary and lasts 45 minutes. You get a clinical assessment of your situation and a clear next step — including when that step is to wait.
