How a clinical pathway works
01
Medical assessmentHistory, prior investigations, medicines, red flags and goals.
02
Selective diagnosticsOnly when a result can inform the next clinical decision.

From your symptoms to the next step

An assessment that leads to a plan for you

Your situation comes first

We review your symptoms, previous investigations, medicines and what you would like to change.

Each investigation has a purpose

We choose relevant tests to answer the clinical questions that matter in your case.

Your plan has clear priorities

We explain the proposed steps, goals and follow-up so you can decide how to continue.

Our root-cause approach: we look for the factors that best explain the overall pattern. The Global Constraint Rule helps organise what to investigate and address first.

Between planned visits

Your clinician-defined plan in your pocket, every day.

Meet Mario helps you follow your plan between appointments. Keep the next steps, meals, relevant results and questions together, ready for your next conversation with the clinic.

Four core care pathways

From symptoms to a likely root cause,
not a preselected panel

These pathways show how assessment, targeted diagnostics, an individual plan and follow-up can identify likely driving mechanisms in common symptom areas. They are not fixed bundles, and no single test is required for every patient.

Pathway 01

Energy & autonomic balance

Heart-rate variability may add information about autonomic regulation and recovery. It is interpreted alongside symptoms, medicines, sleep, activity and the rest of the medical assessment.

Assessment firstSymptom timeline, sleep, activity tolerance, medicines and potential red flags.
Selective toolsHRV or targeted laboratory testing only where a defined question justifies it.
Plan and reviewAgreed functional goals and a scheduled point for reassessment.
Tools that may be considered after assessment
Clinical fatigue pathway HRV analysis Targeted laboratory tests

Pathway 02

Heart & cardiovascular risk

Cardiovascular risk is assessed by combining established risk factors, medical history, blood pressure and relevant laboratory values. An expanded profile may add information in selected cases.

Baseline riskHistory, family history, blood pressure, lifestyle, glucose regulation and standard lipids.
Additional markersApoB, Lp(a), homocysteine or other markers only when clinically relevant.
Risk planPrioritised modifiable factors and an agreed follow-up plan; prescribed medicines are changed only with the responsible doctor.
Tools that may be considered after assessment
Blood pressure Standard and expanded lipids Metabolic markers
Pathway 03

Gut symptoms & IBS

IBS is a symptom-based diagnosis. We begin with the symptom pattern, red flags and previous evaluation, then use targeted diagnostics to identify the likely root cause — or combination of drivers — supported by the whole clinical picture.

Medical triageSymptoms, medicines, diet, red flags and any work-up already completed.
Targeted diagnosticsStool or hydrogen/methane breath testing may be considered for a defined question.
Care planOptions may include meal pattern, diet, medicine review or time-limited dietary trials with planned reassessment.
Tools that may be considered after assessment
GI Effects® SIBO breath test Routine clinical testing

Pathway 04

Food reactions & immunity

Food-related symptoms may involve allergy, enzyme deficiency, fermentable carbohydrates, gastrointestinal disease or other factors. Medical sorting comes first; specialist analyses are not substitutes for an IgE allergy assessment.

Differentiate firstAllergy, intolerance and other gastrointestinal or systemic causes are considered separately.
Structured trialIf dietary change is appropriate, it is time-limited, monitored and paired with a reintroduction plan.
Nutritional safetyLong-term restriction is avoided unless it remains clinically justified and nutritionally workable.
Tools that may be considered after assessment
ALCAT in selected cases Routine allergy pathway Nutritional assessment

Next step

Start with your situation —
not a test

Book a first clinical assessment if you have several symptoms, take medicines, live with an ongoing condition or are unsure which pathway is relevant. The doctor will help define the next appropriate step.

Questions about online assessment and follow-up

Do I need a referral?
No. MediBalans is a private clinic in Stockholm and you book yourself, without a referral. Tests and investigations you have already had in public healthcare are included in the assessment.
What does it cost to start?
The first 45-minute consultation is free. What an investigation costs after that depends on which tests are medically justified in your case — you get a clear cost picture before anything is ordered.
Can the consultation be done online?
Yes. Initial consultations and follow-up can take place by video in English. We review existing results first and confirm any additional testing or sampling arrangements for your country before ordering. In-person appointments are also available in Stockholm.
What is the difference from a primary care work-up?
We build on your previous investigations and bring your symptoms, findings and goals together. The consultation helps identify what needs further assessment and whether an individual programme would be useful, with a plan for follow-up.
What is MediBalans' clinical focus?
MediBalans focuses on precision and regenerative medicine for patients with chronic conditions, new symptoms and healthspan goals. We combine medical history, clinical assessment and relevant investigations with an individual plan and follow-up.
Care programmes, contents and prices
