Iron infusion delivers iron into a vein. At MediBalans, your doctor reviews recent blood tests, the cause of iron deficiency and whether intravenous treatment is appropriate for you. Treatment takes place at our clinic on Banérgatan 10, Östermalm.

Oral iron is often the first treatment considered. An infusion may be an option when oral treatment is unsuitable, poorly tolerated or has not had the intended effect. Your doctor assesses your results, symptoms, medical history and treatment needs together. Fatigue alone does not establish iron deficiency.
What do I need before treatment?
Bring recent blood results and a list of medicines, supplements and previous reactions to iron treatment. Blood tests must be available for review before an infusion. The clinician decides whether further testing is needed and considers why your iron levels are low.
How does the visit work?
You book the treatment directly; there is no separate assessment appointment. Christina Biri checks suitability at the visit. Recent iron blood results must be available for review before treatment. The doctor reviews your information and confirms whether to proceed, which iron preparation and dose to use, and the time needed for treatment and observation. Staff monitor you during treatment. A booking does not guarantee that an infusion will be given.
What about risks and follow-up?
Iron infusions can cause reactions, including rare serious allergic reactions. Tell the team immediately if you feel unwell or notice pain or swelling around the infusion site. Before treatment, we explain product-specific risks and precautions. Follow-up blood tests and further treatment are planned individually; another infusion is not automatic.
Questions before your visit
Do I need blood tests first?
Yes. Recent blood results showing iron deficiency or insufficient iron stores must be reviewed before treatment. Your doctor determines whether additional tests are needed.
How much does an iron infusion cost?
The currently listed price is 2,490 SEK. If new blood tests are needed, 500 SEK is added, making 2,990 SEK in total. Product and dose are confirmed after assessment.
Can I book because I feel tired?
Contact the clinic if you are unsure which visit to book. Fatigue has many possible causes. An iron infusion is considered only when the medical assessment supports it.
Can I have an iron infusion and vitamin D3 in the same drip?
Vitamin D3 at MediBalans is given as an intramuscular injection, not in an intravenous drip. Each treatment requires its own assessment; combinations are not assumed.
